You may have noticed that the brand will not appear in EdgeSight XenApp and XenDesktop 7.9, the latest version of Citrix industry leading virtualization platforms. Why is this the case? Read on and learn more.
A brief history of EdgeSight
Back in 06, Citrix acquired Reflectent Software and its EdgeSight monitoring solution. provided over the years EdgeSight administrators valuable data on the performance and availability of their delivery infrastructure. The newest and latest version, EdgeSight 5.4, is still used in many XenApp 6.5 installations around the world, and is (for further details see Citrix Lifecycle Matrix) remain for some time to make.

was the "classic" EdgeSight for XenApp 6.x mentioned above, XenDesktop 5.x and previous product versions. With the release of the 7.x series of XenApp and XenDesktop, we introduced the concept of EdgeSight similar functions in the Web-based Citrix Director Console and refers to them as EdgeSight and (see XenDesktop 7: Director and EdgeSight explains Blog for more details ).

Why the EdgeSight Name retirement?
XenApp and XenDesktop 7.9, we continue to expand to the extended monitoring functions of the Director; However, the EdgeSight naming / branding has retired. You will no longer see the Director Console References to EdgeSight. In the future, we will simply refer to the full set of features as Director Platinum. We believe that this change will help to clarify the two platform offerings. For Director Platinum anything listed below (and more) are available in the Platinum Edition for XenApp and XenDesktop.

- OS Use Reporting
- Alerts of Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)
- NetScaler HDX Insight
