Facebook responds to privacy violations Tunisian citizens -

The country of Tunisia is in a state of agitation and dissent that millions tune in to follow the anti-government protests. In a recent news story, noticed the social media giant Facebook suspicious activity reports that have come to regard piracy of several political protest pages. Tunisian attributed the cyber attacks on Internet censorship in their country and trying to steal the passwords of social media. Adopting a purely technical approach (not political) on the situation, Facebook coded answer in two steps to the problem, which has enabled all Tunisian requests for Facebook to be routed to an https server and implemented a procedure that requires users to log in identifying pictures of your friends by name.

So what can you do as consumers and business to protect and secure your online business? Golden Frog is not part of the PRISM NSA, offers a solution

1:21 PM Add Comment
Golden Frog is not part of the PRISM NSA, offers a solution -

Prism There are many definitions of "prism"; one I like is the free dictionary "a medium that distorts everything is seen through it." It is interesting that the government would select PRISM as the name for the latest privacy concern to come to light.

the Guardian recently published excerpts from a top-secret PowerPoint presentation used to train intelligence officers on "PRISM". This project of the national security Agency is able to access detailed information held by large Internet companies. Although much remains unknown about this and other NSA programs, the revelation certainly raises a number of questions about privacy, particularly around the use of cloud services

There are two ways to protect online privacy legislation and the effective encryption These are not mutually exclusive.. however. While most are based on the law, many have realized that they can better protect themselves by using encryption technologies.

Golden Frog is not part of PRISM. We are running at 100% of our own infrastructure and not rely on third parties hosting providers. We provide a higher level of protection for our customers and other VPN service providers and Cloud Storage that may have been compromised by this program

We founded Golden Frog because we believe that the Internet should be open and free. that users should benefit from an open and secure Internet experience that respects their privacy. I recently researched vision in a white paper entitled "Prosperity and peace the case for the Open Internet." He described the challenges to freedom and offers a solution that we call "the Second Amendment of the Internet." I invite you to read this article and take the case to protect your privacy online.

We can not continue to make privacy based on a concept that will provide a better "security." Our founding easily resolved this question long ago: "Those who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety" - Benjamin Franklin, November 11, 1755.

Golden Frog customers of Safe heartbleed Bug - What should you do -

In the wake of the Bug heartbleed, many Golden Frog customers reached to see if the Golden Frog services were affected and if customers need to take action. First, be assured all Golden Frog services are currently safe Bug heartbleed. VyprVPN and the website Golden Frog have never used the vulnerable SSL libraries pulsation TLS use. Dump trucks SSL libraries have been patched April 8, 2014, and new SSL key for the service were generated and successfully deployed. However, due to the nature of the bug, we still recommend all customers change their passwords , especially if you used Dump Truck. Change your password "

are vulnerable VyprVPN Apps?

Our applications using OpenSSL 1.0.1e, which is vulnerable to Bug heartbleed for OpenVPN connections. However, even if the applications use a vulnerable version of OpenSSL, customer information is not in danger. To be compromised applications will connect to servers that send malicious heartbeat packets. Our applications will connect to VyprVPN servers that do not send malicious packets. Although VyprVPN applications were somehow deceived by connecting to a malicious server, applications do not have all the information that they are not already sending to the server. There is nothing malicious server could collect from the client he would not get anyway.

We will prepare updated versions of our applications that use non-vulnerable versions of OpenSSL, but at that time, customers are not at risk using existing versions of applications .

What is the heartbleed bug?

heartbleed the bug is a bug in the OpenSSL implementation of the extension of the TLS heartbeat. When operated, it allows an attacker to access the SSL server content and client memory. This memory may include SSL key, the content data through the connection and the user names and passwords transmitted or stored in the memory of the client and the server. Due to the complete compromise of the SSL session and secret key data needed to maintain secure communications, this is considered extremely critical bug. A complete overview can be found at http://heartbleed.com/

What actions should I take?

If you used Dump Truck We recommend you change your password. To change your password, visit this page: https://www.goldenfrog.com/controlpanel/account/password.

Update: A fix is now available for VyprVPN for iOS 8. If please read our website for instructions.

iOS 8 launched today, but unfortunately our VyprVPN for iOS will not work with iOS 8 and can result in your Internet connectivity is temporarily broken . Although the VyprVPN app does not work, manual configuration always works. If you already have a VyprVPN profile installed on your iOS 8 device, please make sure to first remove your profile and follow the VPN iOS manual setup instructions in our Support section.

Since the WWDC, we tested several iOS 8 beta, including the Gold Master, trying to provide a solution to this problem. We also sent several bugs tickets to Apple, but unfortunately they have not provided an adequate response that will solve this severe connectivity problem.

The problem

Currently, when you upgrade to iOS 8 with a VyprVPN profile installed, VyprVPN will connect instantly. However, when you open the application and try to disconnect (or try to disconnect via the Golden Frog Control Panel), our servers will kill your VPN session, but iOS 8 devices do not recognize the server has killed the session and will always try to send traffic through the VPN. This causes the operating system to attempt to route traffic over a connection that does not exist and will translate your Internet connection being temporarily broken . Not good.

temporary "fix"

As a temporary solution, we published an "update" our VyprVPN for iOS iOS 8 which lock users and only allow them to disconnect. This is to prevent users from breaking their Internet connection by trying to disconnect.

You can also disconnect any VyprVPN safety by disconnecting the VPN session in the iOS settings or pending time in about 5-10 minutes.

again, manual configuration always works. Please delete your profile and follow the VPN iOS manual setup instructions in our Support section.

We will continue to wait for a response from Apple on how they will manage VPN connections and therefore do VyprVPN available to our iOS 8 users.

If you have questions or want more updates, please join the conversation re iOS 8 issues of Golden Frog Forum recently launched

Note :. other Golden Frog products, Dump Truck and CYPHER normally run on iOS 8. VyprVPN operate as normal for Android, Windows and Mac.

VyprVPN is the best friend of a Netflix customer, but not for the reason you might think

VyprVPN is the best friend of a Netflix customer, but not for the reason you might think -

VyprVPN and Netflix

Last week, TorrentFreak reported that Netflix is cracking down on VPN users. They said Netflix bowed to pressure from film studios and try to limit the cases of people around the world using a VPN to access the Netflix content that is available only in the United States. Many journalists saw TorrentFreak article and ran with the story.

We were skeptical about the report in TorrentFreak from the start. They published their article after speaking with a single VPN provider. Blocking VPN services was limited to the Android application of Netflix, and was apparently temporary. It took a few days, but Netflix has finally confirmed our skepticism and debunked the TorrentFreak story.

This is important because VyprVPN can be the best friend of a Netflix customer. Many customers of Golden Frog relate much better streaming experience on Netflix with VyprVPN without it because they can bypass their ISP network congestion and throttle defeat.

ISP in all countries use deep packet inspection (DPI) for identity Internet traffic so they can strangle or block streaming services like Netflix. Golden Frog is a neutral network and does not discriminate protocols or applications of the devices. This means that we do not control the traffic of our user. VyprVPN acts as a "Virtual ISP" by traffic encryption and defeat DPI to keep the ISP to identify Internet traffic such as streaming content from Netflix. If your ISP can not identify your traffic, it can not slow down and users receive a better overall streaming experience.

Another issue that concerns us about the report TorrentFreak (and subsequent coverage in other outlets) is striking fear into the VPN users. We had some customers ask us if we expect Netflix will go on the offensive against the VPN users. The answer to this question is why "no" .:

First, it is important to remember that a personal VPN is first and foremost a privacy and security tool. If Netflix would force users to disable the VPN to access the content they expose customers to security risks and privacy while using other apps on their device.

Second, they would have a negative impact on all users that Netflix pair with a VPN service for better performance of streaming. These clients use a VPN "in the country" and not go against Netflix service terms. They are simply hinder their ability to inspect their ISP traffic and slow down their streaming connection.

In an online world that is less and less private and secure, we would hope that Netflix and other tools to encourage the private life.

Bypass the Great Firewall

The experience of the Internet in China is not the same as the experience of the Internet in other parts of the world. China imposes heavy restrictions on their content online, and there is a barrier in place to prevent Internet users from freely interact with the outside world. This barrier is called "The Great Firewall" (GFW).

The GFW aims to make the search for information just enough of a nuisance that users generally will not bother. Instead, the hope is users will turn to excess content (including books, magazines and television programs) already existing in the country. By looking for the difficult external information, Chinese Internet users are pushed to an environment where familiar tools of social control come in.

As seen in this picture, 16 of the 30 best websites are blocked in China.

blocked_websites

to see uncensored content, Internet without restriction China, it is necessary to escape the GFW. Internet censorship around this suggests from a different angle, and a step closer to the truth. Without restrictions, users have access to an open Internet, including sites like Google, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Blogger and WordPress.

We believe that everyone has the right to freely access content and an Internet without restrictions. Our product VyprVPN provides users in China access this through our technology Chameleon owner who beats blocking VPN.

Study highlights Internet privacy risks for children -

A recent "Privacy Sweep" conducted by the Global Privacy Enforcement Network revealed that "50% of websites and applications share personal information of children. "An even greater percentage (67%) collected personal information from children, raising major issues of privacy

Today, children of all ages spend much time on the Internet -. for fun, doing homework and increasingly in the classroom at school Every time a child browses online, the Internet service provider and other third parties can. be monitoring their activity, and this information is often sold to advertisers many sites also collect personal information from users -.. including children As we have previously mentioned, this information is often collected and shared with third parties without the knowledge of users - even in the VPN space. Therefore, it is more important than ever that we understand privacy risks for Internet users of all ages .

One way to increase the online privacy for children is to connect via a VPN. VPNs encrypt your Internet connection so that your ISP can not see what sites you visit when browsing online, and therefore can not collect or sell information about the child's activity. With a VPN, you can also change the location of your IP, so that sites can not identify the actual location of a child. Encrypting your connection also prevents third parties and snoops from being able to see any personal data or information that is entered online. All these things can help protect the privacy of children online, and being aware that this information is often collected and sold is also an important step. Golden Frog VyprVPN is a good way to achieve privacy and increased security, and we run our own network and do not use third parties.

The Great Wall of ... Thailand?

The Great Wall of ... Thailand? -

News broke yesterday that the Thai government plans to control the Internet in the country with a system that closely resembles the Great Wall of China. The Thai government plans to set up a "single Internet gateway" that would allow them to control all information entering and leaving the country. With the new system, the government would not need to ask ISPs to block sites, but be able to do themselves - allowing ISPs and users without control. This proposal also includes changes to the existing laws related to Internet, which makes her even more far reaching.

Thailand imposed moderate Internet censorship in the past, which content selection limits, including pornography and references to the royal family. Censorship in the country increased in 06 when the Royal Thai Army overthrew the government.

Another "Great Firewall" in Asia would be very dangerous to have in place system. It would greatly limit the flow of information in and out of Thailand, and impose restrictive censorship on people in the country. As a company that is fighting for a free and open Internet experience for users worldwide, we are not happy to hear this news. We will look closely to see how things are progressing

Update - October 5, 2015

The Pheu Thai Party, "the majority coalition party "Thailand has spoken out against the proposed Thai Great Firewall, or a single Internet gateway. the party believes that more system have negative impacts, including giving officials the power to block websites, threats to freedom increased expression and slowed Internet connections or even a total collapse of service if the bridge was overloaded.

It was also reported that the players of Thailand are fighting against the project, and launched an attack coordinated DDoS several government websites last week. It sparked a public response riding Minister of information, who has tried to reassure the citizens of the new bridge was designed to have positive effects, such as speed faster and cost reductions

update - June 3, 2016

Thai government amend the computer crimes Act, in an attempt to strengthen capacity of censorship in the country. This includes moves "attack the encryption Web site" in the name of protecting the security and stability in the country.

Egypt Increases censorship blocks VoIP services -

is being reported by some sources that Egypt has blocked most VoIP services and applications in the country. These include services such as Skype, WhatsApp and Viber

There are various reports on why the services are blocked. "Official statements of NTRA [Egypt’s telecommunications regulator] deny blocking, customer service representatives publicly deny blocking, but after the pressure they refer to many users complain that blocking the decision is ordered by NTRA "

others report that it was made for financial reasons, on behalf of telecommunications companies:" the reasons for this surprising decision was that the financial losses. in telecommunications companies, caused by the abandonment of regular calling and text messaging, rendered necessary. "

Whatever the reason, the blocking of VoIP services is censorship in the region and a threat to Internet freedom. The new restrictions will stay in touch with friends and family difficult for many, and will also be damaging for startups and other small businesses operating in the country.

Despite numerous reports of the ban, the government denies it and referring to the ban as a "rumor".

Egypt has some sites blocking history, which can be traced back to the Egyptian revolution. In Freedom of Freedom House report on the 2014 net , Egypt has been reported to have an Internet experience that is "partly free". This description includes the obstacles to access, limits on content and violations of user rights. The country also known practices such as airborne telecommunications services in military and political events, and strong "self-censorship" (people do not want to talk online because they fear the consequences). In addition, information sources and journalists are sometimes held, particularly in anti-government or political events.

Another great firewall in the works, this time in Kazakhstan -

Last week, news broke that the Government of Kazakhstan is working on his own "Great Firewall" so that it can intercept Internet traffic and mobile data of its citizens. News broke in the form of a press release of large telecommunications company of Kazakhstan, Kazakhtelecom JSC, which announced its plan to intercept encrypted data as a mandatory provision under the law. As The Verge reports, the press release has since been deleted. This initiative is, of course, is supposed to name the protection of Internet users, still represents a threat to privacy by allowing increased government surveillance, monitoring and censorship.

The New York Times reported that the "Great Firewall" is less developed than China. It mandates that citizens install a "security certificate" on both phones and computers, allowing for access to encrypted data from foreign servers "circumvent encryption protocols such as HTTPS and SSL." this practice is set to take effect on 1 January 2016.

Unfortunately, this is not the first country modeling their Internet practices after great firewall of China. earlier this year, Thailand announced plans for a great firewall of its own.

As a company that strives for a private Internet experience, secure and open for users worldwide, we are not happy to learn that yet another country is working on a great firewall. We will be watching closely in January to see how things are progressing.

CISA surveillance bill Congress Passes -

The House of Representatives and the US Senate has voted to pass a massive $ 1100000000000 package of spending to fund federal agencies to next fall. Wrapped in this package was a bill now known as the Cybersecurity Act of 2015, formerly CISA (The Law on sharing information on cyber security)!

Despite an outcry and a campaign by many of the greatest security experts in the world and technology companies, led by the struggle for the future, Bill has go through 316-113 vote in the House and 65-33 in the Senate because it was wrapped in the larger "omnibus" bill on spending as necessary to move to avoid a government shutdown

as reported by the Intercept, Bill "removes a restriction on sharing with the national security Agency and the Pentagon direct information. eliminates a restriction on the use by the government of that information for monitoring; allows law enforcement to use the information to pursue any and all crimes, and leaves the individual agencies to scrub personal identifying information when they feel like that. "

The Center for Democracy and Technology outlined some specific problems with CISA in a blog post.

how the cyber draft legislation was released has caused much criticism. The text of the bill was released Wednesday morning, giving lawmakers 48 hours to review it before the vote. Nathan White, Senior Legislative Director for Access Now, said that due to the inclusion last minute, members of Congress "will not even know what they're going," he added "We do not have time to get an informed vote, they pulling a fast one on the Senate."

here at Golden Frog we extremely disappointed and alarmed by the adoption of the new draft law on cyber security, and call President Obama to reject it. Bill is a draft monitoring law and has alarming consequences for US citizens. As pointed Gizmodo: "The worst of this beyond the imminent privacy show is crap CISA will not make America safer. What it will do is to create a centralized information portal for millions of Americans-just the kind of thing that a clever hacker could exploit. "

EU Court of Human Rights: mass surveillance requires a judicial

EU Court of Human Rights: mass surveillance requires a judicial -

Earlier this month, in response to a case in Hungary, the European Court human rights (ECHR) ruled that the mass surveillance needs judicial review.

As explained in a detailed blog by the Center for Democracy and Technology, activists of Human Rights took the case that "challenged the radical legislation passed in 2011 that allows the Hungarian police to research houses, mail, and communication and without judicial authorization electronic devices when they seek to prevent terrorism or otherwise protecting national security of Hungary. "

As mentioned above, the Hungarian law allowed the government minister to approve police requests for searches, including electronic communications, "to protect national security. "The lack of judicial process control, monitoring has to go for long periods and does not require suppression of information collected during research

activists have argued that the law violated human rights and the court ruled in their favor, stating that monitoring can take place without the order of a judge :. "the Hungarian government had violated Article 8 of the European Convention on human rights (right privacy) because it failed to have sufficiently precise, effective and comprehensive measures that would limit monitoring to only those suspected of crimes. "

Although it has not been widely reported, the decision could have profound implications because it applies throughout the nations in the EU As stated Euroactive." The blow to Hungary surveillance practices this week by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) Rights could usher in a wave of similar decisions across the EU. " This means that all countries, even those with a draft law as invasive Bill investigative powers of the United Kingdom will be subject to that decision. We will certainly keep an eye on how this project effects monitoring legislation in the EU in the future.

Golden Frog Co-CTO Philip Molter was interviewed for an article in the Globe and Mail about the recent attempt to block Netflix and VPN proxy. Here is an excerpt:

"There is a very big market of the legitimate use of [VPNs] We have always focused on it as a feature of security and privacy, but like any [[Internet service provider] we want our customers to have access to whatever is available "

Security Open Source Software Myth, notice

Security Open Source Software Myth, notice -

For many years, people have embraced the Open Source Software (OSS) is inherently more secure and more reliable that closed source software (CSS). There are people whose entire lives are built around this concept as a crusade, and we had our share of heckling from the crowd on the fact that there is much to VyprVPN is closed source.

As a company, we certainly support the promotion of OSS. It has enabled us to successfully deliver Internet-based services in many online markets for over two decades. We were among the first pioneers from the FAI in 1994. Without early OSS movement providing the software behind Internet services myriad of day, none of the first Internet service providers have been successful. I bet no movement OSS first Internet still is a closed environment like Prodigy and CompuServe our past. OSS has served and continues to serve as facilitators for promoting economic growth.

The last two years have certainly given the idea that OSS is more secure a run for its money. Core critical key elements, modern SOAs have been hit hard with devastating security breaches. Heartbleed in OpenSSL, Shellsock in bash, and failure to getaddrinfo in glibc have been shown to have many years of security vulnerabilities with potential for remote operation. These security flaws, in existence for years, visible to all who would care about watching, but only recently exposed, should give everyone pause. Linux, our preferred operating system OSS, and a large amount of OSS support, which works above, is more or less secure than any modern operating system.

There are two areas where OSS is gaining hold of CSS: the first is in my ability to see what the software is doing by inspecting the code. However, there are plenty codebases where OSS developers thought darkening was more important than readability - or, at least, I hope that what they were thinking. Second, because I need the code and I can compile myself, OSS is better to let me change the behavior of the program to suit my needs. These two things are practically impossible with CSS.

A gray area in this debate is whether or not OSS can fix security vulnerabilities more quickly than CSS. It certainly goes to reason that once a security vulnerability is known, everyone can enter and submit a patch. Reality (February 2016) glibc vulnerability this month (CVE-2015-7547) was recorded with cve.mitre.org September 29, 2015, but has been publicly announced and set February 16, 2016, with some distributions do not get patches released until February 17. I'm not sure why this scale security breach took 4.5 months to resolve. It certainly recalls that OSS is not a cure-fast response time for security vulnerabilities.

Is it easier to find security flaws in open source because we can see and inspect the code? Likewise, is it harder to do the same in CSS because we can not see the code? I do not think history has shown that these assumptions to be true. For example, the vulnerability of glibc we just experienced was discovered by developers using the library with the defective code; it was not through a proactive investigation of the defective code. The bash Shellshock vulnerabilities exist in the open source code base since September 1989; his discovery would wait until September 2014 - 25 years! Also, if the closed nature of CSS made the discovery of difficult security vulnerabilities, then we not have the steady stream of security updates as we do from Microsoft and Apple; the open nature of the OSS same did not stop a similar flow of regular security updates to all of our favorite Linux distributions.

On the flip side, the current fight Apple with the Justice Department gives me the confidence that CSS is not equivalent to insecurity. In fact, because the US government will Apple with the request said that the US government is unable to defeat Apple's encryption. In addition, Apple's response shows that companies that engage in business through the means of CSS can still be on the right of privacy and security. Like Apple, we continue to fight against the excessive reach of the government and we will continue to provide services that allow you to be safe in your online activities. For the past two decades, we have been engaged in the political struggle and will continue to be. It is in our blood. Take Back Your Internet

VyprVPN Server - Where stand in relation to Open Source Software

I think it's just an opinion piece for !? OSS vs CSS: Who is more secure. " Now to answer the question we really care about here: Where is VyprVPN server compared to OSS

First, VyprVPN Server is based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Server (an open server source Linux Distribution). Ubuntu, we use the open following source software for various needs: bash, python, a lot of OSS python modules, pppd, cloud-init, OpenVPN, xl2tpd, openssl, openssh, nginx, curl and sha256sum (among others!). We download and compile a newer version of strongswan, another piece of the SOA. We install docker, a container OSS software directly from their package repositories.

A key understanding for VyprVPN Server as VPN protocols are provided by the following unmodified, open source software

  • OpenVPN-0, OpenVPN-256, and Chameleon connections: OpenVPN
  • iOS IPSec connections: strongSwan
  • L2TP / IPSec (coming in 0.11): strongSwan, xl2tpd and pppd

So what is the source closed in VyprVPN server

the glue that does all the work. Our web interface and the services that run on the box providing the administration CLI and Web interfaces of Directors. Glue, we wrote to make the configurations made in these administrative interfaces and apply them to multiple open source software configuration files. The glue we have written to speak with our API servers to register your server with your account so that it appears in your mobile applications and seamlessly VyprVPN office. It is the glue that makes this unconfigured OSS and operates in the VyprVPN ecosystem. This is the glue that gives us a competitive advantage in the market, and allows us to continue the development of this and other products for our customers. To give you a clear picture of what is closed to what is open source in VyprVPN Server, glue closed source represents 0.7% of the bytes in a deployed instance VyprVPN Server 0.10.0.114.

What Chameleon?

I make a case above that most of the closed source code above is the glue that is not involved in VPN connectivity to all. Talking about a source software piece in closed VyprVPN Server (and the VyprVPN applications and our public server) that participate in the VPN connection, and perhaps it deserves a reflection on open sources :. Chameleon

This is not the first time he was thought to be - others gave some thought and even provided strong opinions. Here are some for your pleasure (Google you can find many, many more):

  1. http://www.vpnspblog.com/vyprvpn-chameleon/
  2. http: / /www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/ways-to-obfuscate-vpn-connections.363059/
  3. https://gigaom.com/2014/01/27/vyprvpn-provider-starts-using-proprietary-chameleon-protocol-for-anonymity/

Let's make sure we understand how Chameleon works

  • Chameleon works by having a "proxy process" on the client and server (look, no violation of LPG OpenVPN) .
  • This process takes OpenVPN packets sent through the wire and adds obscuration ; He takes the OpenVPN package provides and performs scrambling bit to prevent deep packet inspection (DPI) detection as a OpenVPN connection.
  • There NO add encryption or security, nor NO replace or modify the encryption performed by the underlying OpenVPN connection.

the important delivery here is that Chameleon is NOT a piece of security software and it does not need to be open source for you to see that this is not the infamous things. You can completely inspect how our applications configure OpenVPN (go watch the configuration files) to connect through it and you can use system tools (strace, tcpdump, etc.) to watch OpenVPN send packets, read the Chameleon and Chameleon sends them to the remote server. Now with VyprVPN Server, you can see how we funnel OpenVPN connections in the proxy Chameleon, and using system tools (strace, tcpdump, etc.), you can watch the read customer packages, and watch the send these packets the OpenVPN process running on the device. Now with a client and a server, you can see and verify that packets of raw OpenVPN sent by the client are the same packets received by the server (if you find a difference let us know, because it's a bug! ).

The second link referenced above has a poster quipping that maybe the nature of the closed source Chameleon is "security through obscurity." This poster could not be more in line with what happening here. literally if we open source implementation of IPR should Chameleon authors literally no time to defeat him. They know exactly how we achieve the darkening and the game would be up. the only thing I would change is to read ". The nature of the closed source Chameleon is obfuscation through obscurity ". To open the Chameleon source would defeat the very purpose for which it was written

In summary

VyprVPN server is 99.3% Open source software the 0.7% source software is the glue that closed sets all open source software You are free to look around in our product configurations glue;.. the configuration files must be in plain view so that the software can read it. Chameleon is a small part of this 0.7%, and it remains closed because of the open would defeat the very purpose. Chameleon is enough open on both client and server systems for you to investigate his behavior. OpenVPN, strongSwan, xl2tpd and pppd (the processes that provide VPN connections) are all used in a pure unmodified software, open source form. you can go run an instance VyprVPN Server, register with your account, go and sew on the system. The system is open to all those who want to check my statements.
