FBI Drops case against Apple; Encrypted iPhone Hacks himself -

The US Department of Justice (FBI) officially dropped their case against Apple. The Department of Justice has been able to access data on the encrypted iPhone with the help of a third party.

In a motion to quash, the DOJ said "The government has managed to access data stored on the iPhone and Farook therefore no longer requires the assistance of Apple Inc. mandated by order requiring Apple Inc. of the Court to assist agents in research dated 16 February 2016 ".

This decision raises another debate about whether the government should disclose their method - and vulnerability - Apple in order to strengthen security on the iPhone. Article by Engadget, the government said that information is classified.

This development is good news that the government did not force Apple to unlock the iPhone, or to create new revolutionary encryption technologies. Nor did they managed to set a precedent on access to the encrypted information. We must be cautious in seeing this as a victory, however, that the government was still able to access information, and the question of their right to do so remains unanswered. It is unlikely that the encryption battle is over.
