Conference Calling with Skype for Business -

Based on the questions that I have received, it seems like Skype is a pretty big deal for businesses. So, let us look at another question that I received in relation to the Citrix RealTime Optimization Pack for Skype for Business recently:

How does the 3-way call

with? Skype for businesses to create a 3-way (or more) to do conference call, you must have implemented the Skype for Business Audio-Video Conferencing Server in your Skype deployment. After initiating a call by communicating via SIP to the Skype server, all parties in a call have their voice / video (SRTP) by the conference server.

In a native RDS / VDI deployment that does NOT Citrix RealTime Optimization Pack for Skype for business, the media need extra network hops through (for simplicity include I have the Skype for Business Server removes that is still required for the initialization of the session.)

without

As you can see, for the user, the environment with access a virtual desktop, the Skype for Business client inside the virtual desktop (VDA) is installed. Although this deployment model works, it makes more stress put on your RDS / VDI infrastructure, as we explained in the previous blog.

Now, compare SRTP way when we implement the Citrix RealTime Optimization Pack for Skype for Business.

Opt3way

from the perspective of users, followed by the voice and video data. A much more direct route that mimic the traditional PC experience And the impact on the RDS / VDI infrastructure is significantly reduced, as the media is processed on the endpoints.
