New York FBI Court rejects request for access to iPhone -

Yesterday, a federal magistrate judge ruled that Apple did not have to give the government access US to an encrypted iPhone. The decision came in response to a drug case Brooklyn, where investigators wanted to extract data from a locked iPhone to help their efforts

The judge found that :. "The All Writ Act no justification for the government's request, and rejected the government's request to legally oblige with Apple. In dismissing the application, Orenstein is the government's interpretation of the Act is All Writs so wide that unconstitutional. "

You can read the full decision here.

We are happy with this decision and although it is not binding in other courts, hope it will be useful in the case of California. The first Congressional hearing for this case - in which the FBI has ordered Apple to provide encrypted access iPhone terrorist San Bernardino - is set to take place today. We will continue to provide updates on the situation as it develops
