XenApp Best Practice # 4: The right experience -

200216_100707 Over the years, I have some wood working projects made, like a coffee table building, table, entertainment center, mudroom lockers , etc. All project results in leftover pieces of wood. I dislike perfect throw good wood, away, especially if it is large enough to do something.

Last year, my wife asked me if I could build her a large desk, where they could help the children with art projects, wrap gifts and work on photo ~~ POS = TRUNC. Lo and behold, I was able to build the desk with 100% waste wood. Of course meant with scraps that this table with at least 5 different types of wood (pine, birch, oak, masonite and medium density fiber board) was built.

You would not do such a thing, if you planned to stain and paint the finished product, as it would look a little Frankenstein-ish, but because I painted the desk, I was able to reuse without impact on the final product , The paint was left over from other projects!

This desk cost me $ 0.00 instead of more than $ 500. I was able to deliver a good product, without spending money! The ability to reuse resources is a great way to save money.

In almost everything, you can find ways to reduce costs, but it is to save a balance between money and deliver something that works well and looks good.

in XenApp and XenDesktop look. Where can we reduce the cost by reusing, but still provide users with something that works well and works?

What about the Citrix Desktop Lock?

Barring desktop, we can effectively turn a traditional endpoint in a thin client. The user will be able, no longer interact with the local desktop, and is acceptable if the user always connect to a virtual desktop. Why a perfectly good piece of hardware throw if we can reuse it for a specific application?

What can about the different ways encode XenApp and compress the data stream? You we opt for that gives us the greatest server density to keep costs down? Or we focus on user experience? As you saw in the Windows 7 and Windows 10 Analysis blogs, there is a significant difference in server density between different Citrix-based guidelines

This leads us to our next XenApp Best Practice .:

XenApp best practice # 4 :. To manage costs, focus on the right user experience, rather than the best user experience
